Asantehene’s Intervention Spared Me From Deskinment- Buipewura

The Vice President of the National House of Chiefs, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, has revealed the crucial role Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, King of the Asante Kingdom, played in preventing his deskinment over a decade ago.
The Buipewura made this known while expressing appreciation to the Asantehene for being a formidable and dependable support towards his continuous stay on the skin as well as his success.
Highlighting how Otumfuo has, without condition, opened his doors to him, he counted his narrow escape from deskinment as one of the countless privileges he has enjoyed in his affiliation with the Occupant of the Golden Stool.
This, he indicated, is unknown to anyone.
“You have opened the doors of your home to me at all times. People do not know but I was almost deskinned some time ago but then {after beseeching Otumfuo} Nana told me to be rest assured.”
He thus described the King as his God on earth.
“I came to express my gratitude today. You are my God on earth.”
Buipewura’s earnest desire and prayer for the Asantehene is for God to grant him longevity.
“I brought my Imam here to pray for you. My earnest wish is for you to live long so that Ghana continues to benefit from your presence.”
Particularly, the chief was at the Palace on February 26, 2025, to express his gratitude to His Majesty for blessing him to win the National House of Chiefs election conducted in November 2024.
The Buipewura faced deskinment back in 2010 after he reportedly disregarded an appeal by the late Yagbon-Wura Tuntunba Borisa Sulemana Jakpa II, to rescind his deskinment of the Mono-Wura, Akwasi Piesie.
The Gonja Traditional Council in the Northern Region in response deskinned him, accusing him of insubordination and gross disrespect.
A Tamale High Court decision rendered the deskinment void. This decision was appealed, however, it was upheld.
