Kotoko Presents MTN FA Cup Trophy to Asantehene

The Asante Kotoko SC has presented its 10th FA Cup trophy to its Life Patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
A delegation including the Interim Management Committee (IMC), coaches, management, players, supporters, and former players made the presentation to the King of the Asante Kingdom at the Manhyia Palace on June 18, 2025.
Presenting it, the Chairman of the IMC, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awuah, said Kotoko started the season with an aspiration to win two titles; however, grave mistakes cost them the league title.
Notwithstanding that, he said they were successful in the FA competition which started with 64 teams.
The Kontomponiaferehene said the club deemed it imperative to win the trophy to honour the King for the substantial investment made in the club in the just-ended season which included a GHc4.5 million His Majesty gave the club to procure new players for that Ghana Premier League season.
Speaking on behalf of the Club, former Board Chairman, Herbert Mensah, commended the team for the collective efforts towards the milestone.
“I can say thank you to the players, the coaches and the management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko on behalf of my father (Asantehene).”
He, however, called for enhancement in the efforts to restore the dimmed glory of the Porcupines.
“You must get back up to be at the world club championship. Bring the glory back. Otumfuo has invested. It is not Otumfuo’s job to invest in Kotoko. It is the responsibility of the Board to invest. It is an honour and a privilege to hold Asante Kotoko.”
