Helicopter Crash: Asantehene Sympathises With President, Families

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has sympathised with President John Dramani Mahama and all Ghanaians, particularly the bereaved families in the August 6 helicopter crash.
“I extend my condolences to the President and all Ghanaians,” His Majesty said on August 11, 2025, during an emergency Asanteman Council meeting.
The King was briefed about the incident, which claimed eight lives, including five government officials at Adansi Akrofrom on August 6, 2025, by Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie II, the Adansihene, and Nana Dwamena Akenten II, Offinsohene, who were delegated responsibility of Asanteman during the Asantehene’s now-cancelled trip abroad.
The crash in the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
It also claimed the lives of Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr. Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General, NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manden Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
