No One Can Take Our Peace for Granted – Asantehene

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has underscored the importance of peace in Ghana, warning against any attempt to disrupt it.

His Majesty made the remarks while highlighting the adversarial nature of politics, which often threatens to override the instinct for civility and brotherliness within the country.

“Our experience tells us that no one can take the peace of the land for granted,” Otumfuo stated at the ‘World-Meets-in-Ghana’ Executive Dinner Ball held on April 24, 2026, at the Manhyia Palace.

The King’s speech drew attention to the indivisibility of peace, asserting that peace cannot be preserved or protected in isolation.

He reminded the country that there is no such thing as an isolated conflict or immunity from the ravages of conflict, adding that wherever peace is threatened, the whole world is threatened.

Meanwhile, the Asantehene also emphasized that good governance, the rule of law, and a resilient economy are preconditions for the sustainability of peace.

The occasion was graced by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, businessman Sir Sam Jonah, the Olu of Warri Kingdom in Nigeria, His Royal Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, and his wife, Her Royal Highness Olori Atuwatse III.

Also present were Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama, politician Alan Kyerematen, Council of State member Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, and Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene.
