Akwasidae: Former Ashanti Regional Minister Expresses Deep Gratitude to Asantehene

Former Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, has expressed immense gratitude to the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his unflinching support during his tenure.
The politician joined the Akwasidae Festival at the Manhyia Palace on May 25, 2025, purposely to convey his appreciation and gratitude.
He was in the company of traditional leaders, family members, and friends.
“We came to pay homage and, most importantly, thank him,” he said, as he explained how His Majesty’s support came in handy to facilitate his daunting task.
Simon Osei-Mensah, 64, holds a Master’s degree in Economics (Finance and Banking option).
He served in various positions within the Agricultural Development Bank from 1993 to 2000. He represented the Bosomtwe Constituency from 2005 until January 2017 as a Member of Parliament.
He was a member of the ECOWAS Parliament and was elected 4th Deputy Speaker from 2013 to 2015.
He was appointed Ashanti Regional Minister by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2017 and served in that role until January 2025.
