Otumfuo Returns to Ghana after Barbados, Suriname Visits

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has returned to Ghana after visiting two countries in two weeks.
Otumfuo was received at the Prempeh International Airport on November 27, 2025, by Nananom led by Bantamahene Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI and a team of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council led by Chief Director Michael Owusu Amoako.
The King then proceeded to the Manhyia Palace, his official residence.
Barbados
Accompanied by a delegation made up of Nana Otuo Siriboe II, Juabenhene, Nana Effah-Apenteng, Bompatahene, Nana Agyekum Kusi II, Oyokohene, Baffour Osei Kwame Kantankrakyi, Otumfuo Kyeame and Oheneba Owusu Korkor, Asamponghene, His Majesty left the country on November 11, 2025, in a journey to Barbados.
In the Caribbean country, Otumfuo spent three days holding an engagement with Prime Minister Hon Mia Amor Mottley; honouring the Royal Diplomatic Golf Invitational at the Apes Hill Club with a tee off to mark the official opening; and visiting the Cave Hill Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).
The Asantehene also graced the 16th GUBA Awards and Dinner, an initiative of Akosua Dentaa Amoateng, MBE, and her associates.
His Majesty departed the island country on November 13, 2025.
Suriname
The visit to Suriname for the 50th Independence Anniversary celebrations of the country began on Monday, November 24, 2025.
He also attended the Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly, a parade of the Armed Forces and other activities.
His Majesty further joined a reception hosted by the President, H.E. Geerlings-Simons, and her Spouse, Mr Glenn E. Geerlings, at the Presidential Palace.
The visit was also marked by courtesy visits to President Geerlings-Simons, Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Dr Ir. Michael A.S. Adhin, the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly, The Hon. Ronnie Brunswijk and two other members of the National Assembly.
