Otumfuo Urges Veep to Seize KNUST Project to Immortalise Her Name

The Vice President of Ghana, HE Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has been advised to capitalise on a proposed US$10million project at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) to create a lasting legacy for herself.

According to the Chancellor of the University and King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, this is a viable opportunity for the veep to immortalise her legacy as the country’s first female vice president.

Touching on the proposed project, which was first announced by the Education Minister in October, the Asantehene called for applause for the President and the Vice President, trusting it was not a mere promise.

His Majesty encouraged the veep to personally see to its fulfilment, noting that generations unborn will honour and remember her for it.

“I know that when you promise, you will deliver. Your Excellency, I implore you to seize this historic moment and immortalise your name as the game changer who brought this noble vision to its glorious completion.”

Meanwhile, Otumfuo, who hailed HE Opoku-Agyemang, saying he is well pleased, highly commended the Vice President for her intervention, which has led to the allocation of GHC46 million for the completion of the KNUST Teaching Hospital and an additional $38 million for its equipping as part of the 2025/26 Formula of GETFUND.

“The reason why I said I’m well pleased in the Vice President is that it was through her that we sent the message, and she carried the message, and now the money is being delivered. I’m sure we shall have it.”
