Any Attempt to Encroach on KNUST Land Will Be Met With Decisive Action – Otumfuo Vows

The King of the Asante Kingdom and Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has warned against persistent attempts to encroach on the lands of the university.

Tackling the issue during the 59th Congregation of the institution on November 29, 2025, His Majesty stated that the land carries sacred legacies to support the education of the progeny.

The King noted, therefore, that any attempt to take any part of the designated land of the institution will be an attack on the future generation.

This, His Majesty stated, will not be countenanced.

“As I indicated five years ago, these lands are not ordinary. These are sacred legacies entrusted to us by our forebearers and reserved for the education and upliftment of generations unborn.

“It belongs to the nation of Ghana and to the bright minds who will shape her future. Any attempt to prey on them is an attack on that sacred trust and will be met with decisive action.”

The Asantehene, on that note, commanded all with such intentions to desist immediately and keep away.

Otumfuo also chastised legal practitioners who blatantly take up cases of those encroachers claiming ownership of parts of the land.

“Unfortunately, they get some lawyers to take these matters to court when they know it shouldn’t be so, especially here, people present themselves as abusapanin {claiming} family lands when it is not like that. Yet lawyers, by their profession, take this to court to defend themselves, which is wrong. They have been educated, and they know this is also an educational institution.”

His Majesty encouraged lawyers to carefully examine cases before defending them.
