Asantehene Commissions Despite Auto Museum

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commissioned the historic Despite Automobile Museum at East Legon in the Greater Accra Region.

The symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on June 1, 2025, to mark the grand opening of the world-class gallery.

As the Guest of Honour, the King was taken around the showroom which hosts a collection of luxury and vintage cars springing from the 30s till date.

Otumfuo was in the company of entrepreneur and the brain behind the creative Dr Osei Kwame Despite and his partner, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong.

Seasoned broadcaster Adwoa Yeboah Agyei was the tour guide, serving His Majesty with details of each vehicle within the magnificent building.

Also in attendance were politicians, businessmen, and celebrities, including Ibrahim Mahama, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Nana Kwame Asare Bediako, Julius Debrah, and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

The Despite Auto Museum is a fulfilled childhood dream conceived by Dr Osei Kwame Despite, a Ghanaian entrepreneur inspired by his love for cars.
