Asantehene Invited by Suriname President to Grace Nation’s 50th Independence Anniversary

The President of Suriname, Jennifer Geerlings-Simons, has extended an invitation to the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to attend the upcoming independence anniversary of the nation.

An invitation letter was publicly read to Nananom at the Asanteman Council meeting on October 16, 2025.

A part of the letter said the Golden Jubilee will be held on November 25, 2025.

According to her, the presence of King will bring much honour and glory to the planned national event.

“Your esteemed presence will enrich the event,” she said.

Her Excellency also stressed that it will reaffirm the longstanding friendship and shared relations between Asanteman and Suriname as well as Ghana and Suriname.

After reading the letter, the Asantehene, in accordance with tradition sought the permission of the Council to attend or otherwise.

An affirmative response was received, as Nananom believed the King’s attendance would further enhance the Kingdom’s image.
