Ghana’s Unemployment Situation Took Centre Stage in My Engagement With German Prez- Otumfuo

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has disclosed that the unemployment situation in Ghana took centre stage in his engagement with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier during his visit earlier this month.
His Majesty indicated that his intervention has become crucial, as the situation has grown into a major national concern.
“We are all aware of the unemployment situation in this nation. It was on that basis that I raised the issue when the German President and Ambassador paid courtesy calls on me last month,” Otumfuo said while addressing the 59th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on November 29, 2025.
The Asantehene appealed for support for Ghanaian small and medium-scale industries, indicating that an expansion would enable them to absorb the teeming youth.
The King used the occasion to reiterate the appeal to the German government.
“I wish to reiterate my appeal to the German government to support small and medium-scale industries.”
