I’m Not a Politician- Asantehene

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reaffirmed his non-partisan status.
Enlightening the Ambassador of Denmark to Ghana, HE Jakob Linulf, about his role as the Asantehene, His Majesty said his role demands that he offer his support to all Ghanian democratically elected governments and work towards peace.
“I have a responsibility for my people in terms of peace and I sit here to support the government of the day in terms of developing Ghana and {I have} duty here in Asanteman which transcends the Ashanti Region. We make sure if there any dispute, we resolve to make way for peace.
“In other regions, the government consult for help and we do that also. We support the government of the day. I am not into politics. I advice so Ghana continues in peace in the democratic dispensation we have all agreed to follow.”
Wooing Investment
Otumfuo while expressing his desire to see an enhanced collaboration between Ghana and Denmark highlighted Ghana as a safe haven for investment.
“In the middle of the sea of commotion, Ghana is peaceful. Investments like FanMilk are here because Ghana is peaceful and investment is protected. We encourage you during your duty tour for more investors to come here”
The Asantehene stated that the country needs cooperation, investment and partnerships rather than handouts.
Job Creation
Industrialisation is a solution to country’s unemployment problem.
Industries created through investment could absorb the teeming youth being churned our annually from the various universities, His Majesty projects.
These qualified products, Otumfuo said, cannot be absorbed into the public sector.
“We are producing young men and women from the universities who are more qualified. We have the available human resources and what we need to do is create employment for them. If we can do that, then we need investments for industries.”
Admiration
Meanwhile, the envoy expressed his admiration for the King and the causes he has dedicated his leadership to championing.
He acknowledged the King’s tireless efforts to keep peace, stability, development and prosperity for his people.
“I’m very impressed by the immense effort and love that the king convey and prove to his people. So today I would just like to express my sincere acknowledgment of these amazing efforts that the King has been doing for many years now.”
“I am very impressed with your insight and wisdom about Denmark on how we collaborate…Your dedication to promote education for the young ones is very encouraging, I have to acknowledge that.”
He therefore affirmed Denmark’s unflinching support for the Asante Kingdom.
“I would like to convey that Denmark is always your friend and always your partner and whatever wish you have for support, collaboration, partnership and cooperation in the years to come, I will be here.”
The Ambassador was at the Manhyia Palace with his wife, daughter and a senior official of his office on October 15, 2025.
He used the occasion to introduce himself to the King, pay his respects and convey his condolences to the Asantehene over passing the Queen, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
