King Mswati’s Visit Reaffirms Asante-Eswatini Unbroken Brotherhood- Otumfuo

To the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the visit by the Monarch of the Kingdom of Eswatini reflects the unscathed relations between their two Kingdoms.

The Ngwenyama is in Ghana, specifically in the Asante Kingdom on a working visit.

At a banquet organized by the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace on June 27, 2025, Otumfuo was immensely grateful to President John Dramani Mahama for extending the invitation for the absolute Monarch’s visit.

“His Majesty King Mswati III, head of state of Eswatini Kingdom is on a state visit to Ghana at the invitation of President of the Republic, HE John Dramani Mahatma.  We have to thank the President for giving us the privilege to host this heroic visitor.”

The visit, Otumfuo said, afforded the Asante Kingdom the opportunity to retaliate the “exceptional” hospitality he received from the Ngwenyama during his 2015 visit to Eswatini.

“In 2015, His Majesty invited us to be his guest of honour at the nation’s famous wreath festival. His Majesty gave our royal delegation the most memorable time over the five days of our visit.”

The Asantehene expressed hope that King Mswati and his delegation had felt “at home away from home” during their stay in Kumasi — a sentiment they affirmed.

In the view of His Majesty, the visit highlighted the ties between the two kingdoms.

“For us, it’s been truly awesome to observe an unmistakable feeling that this has been a journey from home to home and a reaffirmation of an unbroken brotherhood between our two people.”

For his part, the Monarch of Eswatini said the memories of their experience in Ghana will be forever cherished and long-lasting.

“We now know why Ghana is affectionately called the land of gold and island of peace. Your people’s renowned kindness, friendliness, and welcoming spirit embody the essence of African hospitality. We shall carry cherished memories of this warmth back to the Kingdom of Eswatini.”

From His Majesty’s perspective, this visit had reinvigorated the bonds of friendship between Asante and Eswatini peoples, adding that the leaders face a formidable task in leading the two nations to greater heights amidst myriad challenges.
