Motivate And Reward Junior Lecturers Who Didn’t Flee Ghana; Asantehene to KNUST

The Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has counselled the management of the institution to motivate and reward junior lecturers who have opted to stay in the country with their qualifications.
Otumfuo recognizes that these lecturers have myriad opportunities at their disposal in advanced countries.
“To you Madam Vice Chancellor, despite other opportunities that exist elsewhere, my lecturers especially the young ones made the choice to come to KNUST. I’m aware of the immense workload and high student-lecturer ratio amidst their routine research work and yet they remain at the post and continue to contribute their quota to the development of Ghana.”
Amid the unfavourable working conditions, Otumfuo believes rewarding and motivating them will be a strategic way to retain them to contribute to the socio-economic development of the country.
“I therefore urge you and the University Council to please take good care of my young lecturers for me, motivate them then and reward them and retain them here because there are numerous opportunities out there for them but have decided to stay in Ghana and contribute to its growth.”
The Asantehene urged the Vice Chancellor to make provision for all the tools they needed to be able to deliver the quality education that will ensure the socio-economic development of Ghana.
