Nana Konadu Yiadom III Dɔte Yie: ‘Kuntunkuni’ Is Dress Code For Nananom

Black cloths known in the local dialect as ‘Kuntunkuni’ have been affirmed as the dress code for Asante traditional authorities attending the four-day burial rites of the late Queen of the Asante Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

This must be strictly adhered to; the Planning Committee of the event set to start on Monday, September 15, 2025, has announced.

At a presser on September 12, the Chairman of the Committee, Nana Effah Appenteng, said, “The dress code is black for all chiefs.”

This means that red cloths are unauthorised and inappropriate for the event.

In addition, all Paramount and Sub-chiefs were directed to be present for the three days- September 16-18- when the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will sit in state.

They will help His Majesty welcome guests from across the country and beyond, as well as show solidarity with the King.

Event
The carefully planned rites will witness a series of activities from September 15 to September 18, when the rites will come to an end.

Her Majesty will be buried on the last day at Breman Baamu.

Filing past is reserved to take place sequentially among dignitaries and the general public from September 15 to 18, between 5 am and 5 pm, except for the last day, when it will end at 11 am to make way for a burial service at 3 pm.

A key point to note is the institution of the restriction on outdoor movement effective 7 pm on September 18 to make way for the burial of Her Majesty.
