Oyoko Royals Thank Otumfuo for Dignified Burial of Asantehemaa

The Members of the Oyoko Royal Family of the Asante Kingdom have appreciated the Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, after a dignified burial was held for the late Queen of the Kingdom, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

Their heartfelt gratitude was openly expressed on Thursday, September 25, 2025, when they were led by Osagyefo Kissiwaa Mmua Bayie II, Kokofuhemaa, Barima Fredua Agyeman II, Kenyasehene and Nana Ama Konadu, Eseresohemaa, before the King at the Manhyia Palace.

As they extended their profound gratitude for the honour done them, they paid homage as well.

The Queen passed away peacefully at the Manhyia Palace on August 7, 2025 and was laid to rest with her ancestors at the royal mausoleum at Breman on September 18, 2025, after four-day burial rites.

The event attracted dignitaries from across the globe to mourn with His Majesty. Among them were President John Dramani Mahama, Deputy Eswatini Prime Minister Senator Thulisile Dladla, Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Former President John Agyekum Kufuor.

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Former Second Lady Samira Bawumia, former First Lady Nana Agyemang Konadu Rawlings, IGP Christian Yohunu, BoG Governor Dr Johnson Asiamah and others also joined.

According to Asante custom, the stool and its kingmakers assume responsibility for an individual once enstooled.

Accordingly, they assume responsibility for the traditional leader’s burial rites upon his/her passing.
