Why Asantehene Thinks King Mswati’s Visit to Ghana Was Timely

At the royal banquet in honour of the visiting Monarch from the Eswatini Kingdom, the King of the Asante Kingdom underscored the timeliness of His Majesty Mswati III’s visit to Ghana.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in his speech asserted that destiny had brought Ghana and Eswatini together while he highlighted the prevailing global tension which spells doom for the African continent.
“Your Majesty, the timing of your visit could not have been more significant. You have come at a time of unprecedented global tension, creating a state of uncertainty we never experienced in history.
“In this uncertain world, the fate of Africa has been even more precarious. Whatever the eventual outcome the new geopolitical contest may play, the outcome for Africa cannot be bright.”
Otumfuo, therefore, made a call for collaboration to rise above the challenge the tensions present.
“Ghana, the standard bearer of African liberation, and Eswatini, the symbol of African monarchical rule, to work together, think together and explore how Africa faces the challenges of turning this moment into an opportunity to carve a new pathway to a greater future.”
The Occupant of the Golden Stool while acknowledging that the challenge was great, was quick to add that the accompanying opportunity was greater.
His Majesty underscored the need to launch a new struggle similar to what was used to gain political independence to give meaning to same by breaking free from the yoke of poverty and ignorance and lifting the African continent onto a new pedestal of prosperity and happiness for the people.
“It is not a struggle for the rhetorics of the past and struggle for ideologies. It is a struggle that can only be won on the farmlands of the continent, in the industrial factories of every state, and our waterways and minefields.
“It is only by our success in managing the natural resources given by our creator that we can earn for ourselves a justifiable place at the table where the true fate of society is determined.”
Between Ghana and Eswatini, Otumfuo made a strong case for the agricultural revolution as well as the embrace of science and technology including Artificial Intelligence.
