You Should Care About Govt Activities in Your Jurisdictions- Otumfuo to Nananom

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged Nananom to take an interest in government activities in their respective jurisdictions.

Addressing the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs on December 19, 2025, the Asantehene said there must be constant engagement between chiefs and government officials to navigate towards development.

His Majesty asserted that chiefs must not always wait for these officials to visit but take the first step of reaching out to them.

This will put the government on its toes, the King indicated.

“You must have a constant engagement with government representatives in your respective jurisdictions. Find time to invite them to brief you on developmental projects. Fifty-five per cent of your royalties are given to District Assemblies, and so you must know how that is spent.”

His Majesty encouraged them to take and show interest in the level of education, health and other sectors to stay on top of their affairs.

“The District Director of Health and the District Director of Education must all be engaged to inquire about health and education. This will enable you to stay up to date on issues in your jurisdiction.”
