Asantehene Lectures UK Advanced Command and Staff College Students

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has taken with the UK Advanced Command and Staff College (ACSC) Course 28 through a lecture.
His Majesty lectured the group made up of 42 students from 13 different nations on Ghana its people, security, traditional leadership and other things that pertain to the West African country.
This was on Friday, May 2, 2025, when the delegation which has been in the country for a week led by the Divisional Director Captain (RN) Charlotte Yemm visited the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
In her address, Captain Yemm touted the top-notch hospitality they had received in Ghana, emphasizing that the memories will be there for a lifetime.
“We have had the privilege of spending a week in Ghana learning so much about the people and the wonderful culture. We have been struck continuously by the generosity, and the friendships we have made. We will leave tonight for the UK… We have great knowledge now of your nation.”
Asantehene while welcoming them, touted the governance structure and peace in the country.
His Majesty also highlighted the significant role traditional authorities play in augmenting the work of the government.
“It’s the duty of traditional authorities to make sure there is peace everywhere and therefore we adjudicate conflicts so that the government will have the needed atmosphere to do developmental work. We support the government of the day. We are like a development catalyst. In education, and health we do whatever we can to complement what the government does.”
“Ghana is a peaceful country. We democratically elect our leaders. Elections come and go. Fortunately, we have been able to sail through. If there are any issues, there are elders like us to talk to the politicians to calm down. Fortunately, when we speak to them, they listen.”
The Asantehene praised the people of Ghana saying, “We are each other’s keeper.”
“Religious wars aren’t here. All religions are respected,” Otumfuo added.
On security issues, His Majesty hailed the efforts of Ghana Armed Forces in keeping the borders safe and called for assistance in equipping them to effectively perform its mandate.
“The West Coast of Africa and the Sahel were where our concerns were but I believe our soldiers have been doing their best to protect our borders. There had been some violence in the northern border but we are making every effort to deal with it…I have confidence in the Armed Forces they are doing all they have to. They need resources. They need to be equipped.”
