There’s No Future Better Than At Home and What You Create; Otumfuo to Ghanaian Youth

It is the firm belief of the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, that Ghana’s future resides in what the youth make it.

According to the King, a better future can only be realized at home and through creative and innovative youth.

“The answer lies in the mind. There is no future anywhere better than where you are. The future is HOME and in your minds to create. It is in your minds to create and innovate and in your hands to mould and shape the world you want,” His Majesty addressed the graduating class of Delhi Private School (DPS) International in Tema on June 21, 2025.

To the Asantehene, a better future does not lie in one in which the youth shuttle between embassies seeking the miracle of a foreign visa to travel in search of greener pastures.

“It cannot be a future spent risking our lives across the deserts of Libya or the treacherous lands of South America or packed like human sardines in floating death traps seeking unavailable pathways to Europe and America. None of you and no Ghanaian deserves that future.”

His Majesty, therefore, challenged them to be creative, innovative, courageous and enterprising in sectors such as agriculture, science and technology.

“That is the future you want to champion. The future in which Ghanaian youth are changing the face of agriculture, bringing the miracles of science and technology to produce the food we need to feed the nation and to provide raw materials for industry.

“A future in which Ghanaian youth take centre stage in the race to utilize our natural resources to create wealth for themselves and the nation. A future in which Ghanaian youth are firmly in the driving seat of the big technological community that is shaping the world.
