Asantehene Welcomes Asantehemaa In First Public Encounter Since Enstoolment

Asantehene Makes First Fofie Visit to Newly Enstooled Asantehemaa

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has formally welcomed the newly enstooled Queen, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, to her palace following her enstoolment earlier this week.

The visit took place days after the formal announcement of her enstoolment to the Kumasi Traditional Council on July 9, 2026.

It marked the first public encounter between the King and Queen since she ascended the Kusiamoa Stool.

His Majesty urged her to discharge her duties with wisdom, unity, and dedication to the development of the kingdom and the welfare of its people.

The announcement of her enstoolment was marked by the presentation of drinks and cash by the Gyaase Division to the Kumasi Traditional Council and the Asanteman Council, in accordance with Asante custom.

The enstoolment of Nana Yaa Akyaa II on July 6, 2026, comes in succession to the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who joined her ancestors in August 2025.

Born Nana Ama Bonsu and christened Margaret Siriboe, the 15th Asantehemaa is expected to play a key role in cultural affairs, mediation, and the promotion of Asante customs alongside the Asantehene.
