Amin Adam Grateful To Otumfuo For Dagbon Peace
The Minister for Finance, Hon Mohammed Amin Adam has expressed immense gratitude to the occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his contribution to peace and stability in the Kingdom of Dagbon.
The native of Dagbon recognizes that the resultant effect of the settlement of the chieftaincy conflict which spanned for over a decade is accelerated economic development in that zone.
He also showed appreciation to the King for his contribution to national development.
“As a Dagomba grandson of yours, we appreciate all the work you have done for us and bringing about peace which has paved the way for accelerated development in Dagbon.
“We also know your contribution toward national development in general through your education fund and other numerous initiatives that have attracted investment into our country. We appreciate that so much and we want to thank you for all these services to our country and our people.”
He poured out his gratitude to the King when he paid a courtesy visit to him at the Manhyia Palace on February 20, 2024, to formally introduce himself as the new Finance Minister.
The Member of Parliament for Karaga Constituency was accompanied by Deputy Finance Minister John Ampontuah Kumah, Chief Director Eva Eselba Mends, Director of Economic Strategy and Research Alhassan Iddrisu, Director of Policy Coordination Monitoring and Evaluation Division Augustus Kwesi Adu and others.
It comes exactly a week after the overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Abukari II conveyed his profound gratitude and admiration to Otumfuo for the amicable settlement that has since rendered his Kingdom peaceful.
The Dagbon chieftaincy conflict, somehow deemed political, persisted for seventeen years between the two royal families in the Kingdom after the murder of Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani in 2002.
The institution of several committees failed to bring a satisfactory resolution which would be admitted by the two parties until the institution of the Committee of Eminent Chiefs (CEC) headed by Otumfuo.
