AngloGold Ashanti Donates Towards Last Akwasidae

AngloGold Ashanti has contributed an unspecified amount of money towards the last Akwasidae of the year.

The amount was presented in cash to the linguists of the King during the last Akwasidae of the year 2023 on November 26.

This is in appreciation of Otumfuo’s unflinching support towards the revival of the mining company through its torrid moments some time ago, the Senior Manager for Community Relations, Mr Emmanuel Baidoo indicated.

Addressing Asanteman at the event which was held at the Afia Kobi Park at the Manhyia Palace, he said, “AngloGold folded up but for our Lord, our father and our all, it has revived.”

He said the amount was to support purification rites which are cardinal aspects of the festival.

Among the delegation was the Senior Vice President of Africa Non-operated JVs, Mr Eric Asubonteng.

Joining the celebration were people from all walks of life, different continents and across Ghana. The guests were treated to the rich and educative culture and tradition of the Asante Kingdom.

The iconic ceremony was attended by Queen Consort Sylvia Nagginda of the Buganda Kingdom, Her Royal Highness Rita Maria Zimba of the Moroccan Royal Family, former Deputy President of South Africa, Mr David Mabusa, the Asante Professionals Club (APC), AngloGold Ashanti and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Also present were the “Heal KATH Project” Management, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Legacy Foundation, the Tour Operators Union of Ghana, the National Alternative Employment Programme for Illegal Miners (NAELP), Zongo Nkosuohene and Jamaican Reggae artiste Hezron Clarke.

The Kingdom now awaits the next Akwasidae which will be on January 7, 2024.
