Asantehene Advises Deposed Bechem-Tanoso Queen to Stay Calm

The Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has counselled the deposed queen of Bechem-Tanoso, Amponsah Boah, to remain calm as processes advance to select a candidate to occupy the male stool.
The feuding factions presented their “Dibim” to the Asantehene on March 13, 2025, during a Kumasi Traditional Council meeting after an amicable resolution of the dispute on Monday.
While accepting the plea, Otumfuo directed the family head to lead the process of selecting a candidate for the vacant male stool.
His Majesty on that note counselled Boah whose previous position as queen was annulled for being a proxy to a late proxy, to humbly and calmly sit through the traditional process.
“Be humble throughout the process. After the male stool is filled, we will see what happens.”
Background
The Asantehene on March 10, 2025, ruled that Obaapanin Amponsah Boah II’s position as Queen of Bechem-Tanoso was void, rendering her positionless and the stool vacant.
The King, however, restrained the elders from enstooling a queen for the area in the meantime.
“Leave that one to me. I am thinking about it,” he added.
