Asantehene Celebrates 74th Birthday Today

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is this year marking his birthday at home with his family, Asanteman and Ghana following last year’s in the United Kingdom (UK).

The King of the Asante Kingdom is today, May 6, 2024, 74 years old.

His birthday will be celebrated with a Thanksgiving Service and dinner at the Manhyia Palace later on today.

The service will take place at the St Cyprian’s Anglican Church, where His Majesty and all well-wishers will converge to show appreciation to God for the gift of life and impact.

His Majesty will, later in the day, host a dinner at his residence.

Last year, the 73rd birthday of Otumfuo fell while he was on an official trip to the United Kingdom with his wife, Lady Julia for the coronation of King Charles III.

His day was well celebrated with a dinner with some guests, including former President John Agyekum Kufour and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in London.

That notwithstanding, Asanteman treated the King to a belated birthday celebration on his arrival in the country on May 13.

The surprise celebration which was held at the residence of the King, was organised by traditional rulers in the Kingdom during which a specially designed cake with the black, yellow and green colours of the Asante flag was presented to the King for cutting.

This year’s birthday is special as His Majesty marks his 25th Anniversary on the Golden Stool.
