Asantehene Endorses Bechemhemaa’s Choice to be Enstooled Chief

The Occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has endorsed the candidate selected by Nana Adwoa Po Dwamena Serwaa II, Bechemhemaa, to ascend the male stool.

The endorsement came on October 16, 2025, when the Asantehene, presided over a meeting of Asanteman Council at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.

Some leaders of the royal house led by the Family Head had accused the Queen of sidelining him from the selection process as customs demand.

The Queen while addressing the Council denied the allegation as she chronicled all the steps she took to select the said candidate.

“I observed all traditional guidelines,” she affirmed, adding that the Family Head had been engaged but boycotted the process along the way as his choice of candidate was not chosen.

In his submission, the Family Head appeared to reveal that he had a personal interest in the vacant stool.

After hearing both sides, the Asantehene probed further to verify the royal status of the candidate and then directed the stool elders to see to the requisite processes to enstool him.

“Perform the needed rites and bring him to take an oath on Monday.”
