Catholic Archbishop Presents Newly Ordained Priests To Otumfuo

The Catholic Archbishop of Kumasi, Archbishop Gabriel Anokye, has introduced seven newly ordained priests of the Church to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

This was done during a courtesy call on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at the Manhyia Palace.

The seven priests include Martin Adjei Mensah, Grabriel Gyansah, Sylvester nana Kwaku Owusu, Augustus Opoku Amankwah, Rexford Akese Mensah-Kum, Richard Osei Sarfo and Richard Achii Kwarteng.

The priests- all from the Ashanti Region – were ordained last month and have been assigned to various parishes across the country.

Archbishop Anokye also informed the King about the upcoming Thanksgiving Ceremony for the 25th ordination Anniversary of the Catholic Bishop of the Goaso Diocese, Bishop Peter Kwaku Atuahene, who was also present at the Palace.

He will be marking 25 years since his ordination as a Bishop of the Catholic Church. The event will be held in Goaso on October 21, 2023, they told the King.

Though Otumfuo did not communicate he would be attending the event, he promised to contribute to making it successful.

“We will contribute in any way to make the event great and glorify God.”

He also said his earnest desire and prayer for the new priests is to walk in the footsteps of their leaders in piety.

He also advised them to upgrade themselves by constantly giving themselves to books and studies.

Finally, he counselled them to submit themselves to their leaders in service. “We want to get a lot of Bishops and Archbishops but you will be able to advance to that position if you serve.”
