Focus More On Development Than Politics; Otumfuo To Oyerepa FM

On the first encounter of the Management of Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM with Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the former has been charged to centre on contents that will inure to the benefit of Ghana and its citizens.

It was indicated on the part of the King that the role of the media in the development of Ghana will be realised if it migrates from politics and focus on academic researches.

“Media is not about derogatory remarks. There are a lot of things you can concentrate on to develop Ghana. The focus is always on politics. Your content should centre on how to create employment, improve agriculture, etc. There are a lot of research works developed by some academic researchers in these fields but these persons haven’t been mentioned ever by the media. Politicians get all the attention”, he told the Programmes and General Managers.

The King said this when a delegation led by the Mr Emmanuel Agyemang, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Promise Broadcasting Corporation, the parent company of Oyerepa FM and TV, called on him at the Manhyia Palace on February 17, 2023.

Among the delegation was the spouse of the CEO, Mrs Emelia Agyemang, Human Resource Manager, Apostle Emmanuel Nuako, General Manager, Mr Otuo Acheampong, Programmes Manager, Mrs Afia Nyarko and the Radio Pastor, Rev Richard Asamoah.

The Management members of the media organisation were at the Palace to formally inform the King about the existence of the media organisation, its trajectory and achievements since its five years of existence.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Mr Agyemang said, “NCA adjudged Oyerepa TV and FM the leading TV and Radio Station in December 2022. We know all these are due to the blessings of the King. We are here to thank him for his support and prayer. It’s been five years since the organisation was established so we decided to come here.”

The King commended the team for their achievements and urged them to carry on with the good work.

“Being recognised {by the NCA} means you are doing well. Continue the good works and you will flourish. I will support you with prayers.”

He further advised Mr Agyemang to let humility lead in his leadership at the organisation.

For Mrs Agyemang, the King urged her to continue to support her husband as she has always done.
