I Wish to Continue In Humility, Honesty and Respect- Asantehene
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has expressed his desire to carry on with his distinguished and unparalleled leadership over Asanteman in humility, honesty and respect for his subjects.
He recognizes that leadership is people-centred and service to subjects and therefore wants to perfectly deliver that in the years ahead.
He made this known when a delegation from the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) called on him at the Manhyia Palace on Friday, May 17, 2024, to extend their felicitations to the King on his Silver Jubilee which climaxed with a grand durbar on May 12, 2024.
Referencing the oath of allegiance he took 25 years ago, His Majesty indicated that it had catapulted the development, peace and glory that has overshadowed the Kingdom and Ghana at large.
He furthered, “I hope to continue ruling with respect, honesty and humility. These are the elements of leadership. Leadership is service to the people you lead and no leader must forget this. I always keep myself in remembrance of this: that I am there for the people. That is what has held me up in my leadership up until now.”
Otumfuo marked his 25th anniversary on the Golden Stool with a series of events, including dinners, durbars and thanksgiving services with Asanteman and Ghana.
The celebration was held under the theme: “25 Years of Local and Global Impact”.
