I’m At Your Beck And Call- Bawumia Submits to Otumfuo

The Vice President of Ghana, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, has vowed to put himself at the disposal of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II whenever the need may arise.

He made the public vow during his introduction as the Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the Monarch at the Manhyia Palace during the Akwasidae festival on November 26, 2023.

He reckoned that Otumfuo played a pivotal role in his victory in the Party’s election and, thereby his vow to remain loyal to him.

“I went into the battle with his blessings and counsel. He blessed me and prayed for me and God gave us victory. NPP won the election. I cannot rest comfortably in Accra until I come to show my gratitude.

“I ask for a long life for you. Thank you so much. Wherever and whenever you call me I will rise to it whether in the morning, afternoon or in the night. I am at your service. God bless you.”

The Vice President was accompanied to the Manhyia Palace by the Second Lady, H.E. Samira Bawumia, National Chairman of the Party, Stephen Ntim, General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye and Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah

Also present were Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame Constituency, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, MP for Dome Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo, Education Minister, Yaw Osei Adutwum, MP for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Benito Owusu Bio and many others.

The NPP held their final Presidential Primary on Saturday, November 4, 2023, across the country for four contestants namely, Vice President, Dr Bawumia, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, Former Minister for Agriculture, Osei Akoto and former Mampong MP, Francis Addai Nimoh.

Dr Bawumia emerged as the winner and will face off with former President John Dramani Mahama from the largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general election.
