Major Gen Onwona Makes Visit To Manhyia Palace Memorable

The Chief of Army Staff (CAS) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), Major General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona has made his first official visit to Manhyia Palace a memorable one.

He undertook a familiarization visit to the Palace on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, together with staff officers from Army Headquarters and Central Command Headquarters, during which Major General Onwona apprised Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II about his appointment.

In the quest to make his visit an unforgettable one, Major General Onwona presented a customised Ghana Army plaque to the Occupant of the Golden Stool.

Presenting it, he said, he wanted his visit to remain in the books of the Palace.

“This is to signify that on this day {March 19, 2024}, the Chief of the Army Staff and his entourage paid a courtesy call on him.”

He was in the company of Brigadier Generals, including Charles Agyemang Prempeh, General Officer Commanding the Central Command; RL Mensah, Commander of the Kumasi Military Hospital; and Y Salifu, the Deputy Chief Staff Officer for Plans and Policy at Army Headquarters, along with staff officers from Army and Central Command Headquarters.

Major General Onwona assumed the Office on February 1, 2024. Ahead of this appointment, he was the Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College.
