Otumfuo Calls for Governance Overhaul to End Africa’s Endless Conflicts

The occupant of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has mounted an advocacy for a total overhaul of the governance structure in some African countries.

His Majesty recognises that this step will eradicate conflict in many countries for national cohesion to prevail.

Speaking at a banquet at the Manhyia Palace on June 27, 2025, Otumfuo said, “It calls for a review of the system of governance in many countries of Africa, to flash out the causes of many conflicts and improve the prospects of consensus building and national cohesion.”

Otumfuo foresees that a climate of peace and a spirit of brotherly love among Africans are crucial in the challenging times ahead.

His Majesty, therefore, conveyed an ardent appeal to all compartments in conflict across the continent to lay down their arms and allow for peaceful dialogue.

His Majesty was particular about the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sudan, Somalia, and Chad.

“We appeal for an end to all hostile activities in Africa and we appeal for wise heads to prevail to facilitate the restoration of unity within the ECOWAS subregion. It should be clear to all combatants by now that there is no path to victory through violence and that the persistence of violence only undermines the future destiny of our continent.”

The banquet was held in honour of the King of Eswatini, His Majesty Mswati III.
