Asantehene to Cover Educational Expenses of Pooley’s Kids

The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will be covering the educational expenses of the six kids of the ardent Asante Kotoko SC supporter who lost his life at Nsoatre during a game between his club and Nsoatreman FC.

His non-governmental organization- the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation (OOTIIF)- has been charged with taking care of the kids.

This was announced by the Chairman of the Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua when the representatives of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) visited their secretariat on February 11, 2025.

“I have informed our Lord (Otumfuo) about everything. He has decided to take up the educational cost of the deceased’s children as well as his funeral cost. Otumfuo has ordered that his body be conveyed to Kumasi. The Asantehene understands that the deceased lost his life because of his club.”

Ardent Asante Kotoko fan, Frimpong Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, was stabbed to death following the 1-0 defeat to Nsoatreman FC.

This followed a melee that marred the game at Nana Koramansah Park at Nsoatre in the Bono Region on February 2, 2025.

Six persons have since been arrested in connection with the incident.

Meanwhile, Kotoko have suspended their participation in all football activities.
