Otumfuo Experiences Soothing Performances At Desperadoes Pan Theatre

Following sentimental moments that accompanied the celebration of Emancipation Day on Tuesday and subsequent visits to some sites in Port of Spain on Wednesday morning, a time for relaxation finally came for His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The occupant of the Golden Stool since the beginning of his five-day working visit to Trinidad and Tobago admitted to a “heavy heart” after having a feel of the separation and enslavement the people of African origin were subjected to.

Together with Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Keith Rowley, the monarch of the Asante Kingdom went to the Desperadoes Pan Theatre in George Street in Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad and Tobago in late afternoon of Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

Images from the visit showed Otumfuo and the Prime Minister touring the $14 million theatre and assessing its panyards.

One picture showed the King with panyard sticks in his hands standing by the PM and his wife, Mrs Sharon Rowley.

He was captured in another picture with 12-time National Steelband Panorama competition winners, the Desperadoes Steel Orchestra.

The orchestra later performed some of their classical renditions to entertain and relax the King of the Asante Kingdom and his delegation.
