You Weren’t Appointed to COCODOB For Personal Gains; Asantehene to Management

The Occupant of the Golden Stool has encouraged the Management of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) to put the country first and apply their knowledge to improving the cocoa sector.
Addressing some Management members on May 2, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace, His Majesty reminded them of the core mandate for which the regulatory body was constituted.
The Asantehene affirmed that they were not appointed to enrich themselves, but to serve the sector.
He therefore challenged them to input their knowledge to improve it.
“You are there because of Ghana, not your enrichment. We have been hearing disturbing news. Cease all that. You are there because of your knowledge. Help build the sector with that knowledge. There will be money in the economy when you do that and everyone will feel peace.”
Meanwhile, he encouraged all workers to support the new Chief Executive Officer in the discharge of his mandate.
As part of his working tour of the cocoa-growing regions, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr Ransford Abbey, paid a courtesy visit to the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
The visit was used to brief the Asantehene on the current state of the Board and seek His Majesty’s counsel and blessing.
Among the delegation were Dr. Francis Baah, the Deputy CEO; Richard Adu Acheampong, the Executive Director of the Cocoa Health and Extension Division (CHED); and Kwabena Owusu Ansah, the Deputy Executive Director of the Seed Production Division (SPD).
The King assured the leader of his continuous prayers for success.
“I will support him with prayers.”
